Socially Safe Times On the Town

Well, as things slowly reopen to some degree, yet remain far different from life as once we knew it, we've been watching what's being offered so everyone can still safely take advantage of local events.

Reopening Rules
As some of our major tourist attractions reopen, including those throughout Forest Park, be sure to check on all the new regulations regarding entry. Many are currently ticketed and/or time slotted to allow limited numbers in at once. So, as always, know before you go.

Obviously, if you plan to be out anytime soon, you know the big three:
• Wear your mask inside public places or outside if social distancing is not possible. This is now mandated in STL City and County for anyone age 9 and up as of July 3.
• Keep that minimum 6 foot distance.
• Stay home if you don't feel well.

Easy actions to help keep others safe and at ease as we hopefully get out a little more. And speaking of getting out...

Live Life Outside
In lieu of the Life Outside Festival, here's some outdoor motivation—complete with actual prizes, if you're so inclined. Great Rivers Greenway is hosting the Life Outside Challenge. Just do 20 or more of their 40 listed outdoor activities throughout July, August and September (or 20+ each month if you like), and you can win a bag of goodies, plus be entered into a drawing to win a bigger prize. Great stuff for anyone living Life Outside.

Art Hill Film Series At Home
We won't gather on Art Hill this season, but you can still enjoy four flicks inside with a/c cranked as the At Home Film Series emphasizes films, food and fun. Streaming dates are set for July 10, 17, 24 and 31 starting at 8:30 p.m., and are subject to change. Learn more at slam.org/at-home-film-series.

Take a Stroll With Shakespeare
Alas, "Much Ado" (my personal fave) has been put on pause for the season, but you can still take A Late Summer Night's Stroll through Forest Park August 12 through September 6. This free event will immerse you in "A Midsummer Night's Dream" in and around Shakespeare Glen. Registration will be required, and you can find more details at stlshakes.org.

The Drive-In Makes a Comeback
From drive-in movies to full on concerts, we're seeing a return to the past as we reconfigure what entertainment should look like for the future. (Hey, one of my earliest Star Wars memories is at a drive-in, so I'm down with the nostalgia.) Check out Drive-In St. Louis at the Hazelwood PowerPlex, Skyview Drive-In in Belleville, IL and even special vehicle friendly events in the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre parking lot. Mind you, some of these events are a little pricier, especially the fewer you have in the car, so watch for early purchase savings.

So there you have it, just a sampling of physically distanced offerings going on around STL. Get out, or stay in, be safe and enjoy.
