Well, with summer nearly here and stuff reopening day by day, it's time for a site refresh. So we've made a few tweaks and updated links throughout for y'all.
We're still keeping an eye out as things happen and more people are able to be vaccinated, but, of course, many organizations plan to proceed with extra caution. Whether you're ready to stick a toe in the water or jump right in, here are a few items of note...
Old Classics
St. Louis Shakespeare Festival
Shakey is back on stage at Forest Park, this time featuring King Lear. But, while there are plenty of free spots available, reservations and masks are required. You can snag your personal pod for a specific week on Mondays through June 21. As we saw happen live on Memorial Day, these move FAST, so be ready.
Fair St. Louis
Fair STL recently announced we'll see the return of the 4th of July parade and fireworks this summer, just not the actual fair part of the Fair, which is set to return in 2022. (Sammy's still waiting on his "under the Arch" moment, guys...) Safe viewing options are encouraged, with streaming available on KMOV.com.
These are just a couple of many modified returns, but keep watching for more.
New Expectations
Of course, lots of businesses and venues are back open with varying expectations, so be sure to check ahead to see what's happening where you're heading.
As a good example, different venues have changed their bag policies, with transitioning security protocols even pre-pandemic. For instance, there is now a strict no bag policy at all Cardinals games. Blues games still allow see-through bags of particular sizes, but no regular purses, etc. So it's really critical to know before you go so there are no disappointments at the door or at the gate.
Old Meets New
In the completely revamped category, a formerly quiet section of Forest Park just got a full facelift as brand new Nature Playscape, very different from the grassy hill it once was. You can explore below before you go exploring in person. Another great outdoor option for those still keeping their distance.
Of course, there are still loads of online opportunities you can do from home, which the St. Louis County Library continues to be fantastic about even as they've gradually reopened their spaces. But if you can safely get out there, do it. Just be sure to be prepped, love your neighbors and show lots of patience in the process. A little kindness goes a really long way these days.
Of course, things will keep changing, so take some time to get reacquainted as you go. And we'll get there, guys. It'll just look a little different.
